Ink's drawink project has me thinking about tablet devices. Is there anything interesting from a UI perspective to do with a tablet device besides draw? (Not that that's uninteresting.) What would the GUI world look like if the tablet existed before the mouse? (Since we still don't have good handwriting recognition, the tablet would have the same relationship to the keyboard the mouse does.)
I'd like to give some answers, but since I've not actually used a tablet, I can't.
These questions are already germane on the PDA, though there they're entangled with the small screen problem. These questions will hit harder when we have epaper, and not only with electronically flippable pages but with actual interfaces for control and input. The things you can do to epaper are similar to what you can do today with drawing tablets, to my mind.
