Uninstalled software

I made a list yesterday of the programs I reinstalled to my zip disk for mobile handy use. But what don't I have?

  • An email client. I use Mindspring's web mail interface, but that keeps things on the mail server and marks everything unread when I log in. I'd like one, but I doubt Eudora would be happy moving around like that. Perhaps The Bat would, but I should pay for TextPad before I consider getting some other shareware (especially that will really stop working after whenever).
  • A desktop headline aggregator. Unfortunately Radio is heavy enough to not be easily mobile. I've been using NewsIsFree, but I think I'll try AmphetaDesk (as seen on TechTV's The Screen Savers, again, last night) again in a few.
  • A Jabber (or other IM) client. WinJab wants to install DLLs and keep stuff in the Registry, which is a big no-no as far as mobile software's concerned. It was bad enough when I thought TextPad kept its config in ~/AppData/TextPad, but it apparently puts crap in the Registry, too. This was the main impetus for writing Jackal, but at this point I just don't particularly care.

More if I think of any.
