Styleplay

I hacked my LJ style to present short posts (no images, paragraphs, or line breaks) tweetily:

Meanwhile, my activity stream has a feed, so I added the Activity Stream Syndication here on LiveJournal as [info]markpasc_ass. If anyone else would like to play with an activity stream, I could set one up on neologasm.org for you.

Shiny stupid

Trying to design this blog (this blog), but of course, I suck.

Grungy? Glossy? Ornate?

I'm demoing Desktoptopia and it has some ornate inspirations, like this or this. That vein is a lot like the backgrounds available for Pownce. Oh, that's also the main Threadless aesthetic, of course. Maybe it's too faddish.

Here's a stupid potential feature for LiveJournal/Vox: let readers define lists of tag icons that are displayed next to text tags, so you can pick out your favorite tags visually instead of by the word only.

Front and centennial

I'd be interested if anyone can make up a good word related to one hundred, as this is neologasm post #93. I already have nine other unpublished terms but I didn't write definitions before I forgot what they should mean (or added them because they sound mellifluous and would have to make up definitions to post them).

Update: There is stiff competition.

Elite Beat Agents!!

OMG, it's almost like they read my mind blog!

Someone comes to town, someone leaves town

I'd feel a little better about discarding a blog if I hadn't started another.

Update: and shouldn't I get rid of this crap by redirecting it here? OBVIOUSLY~

Update: I got rid of another blog, deleted another from MT without removing its files (since [info]byrnereese is linking to them), and redirected inuyasha to a less offensive ytmnd. Spring cleaning!!

ugh blog design

I totally need to come up with a new design for my blog. I hate hate hate hate hate redesigning because I'm no good at it. I managed to stumble onto the current design that's half decent, and I'm not sure how.

I usually try to keep designs incredibly simple, just because I don't have the skill to pull off anything complex. The current half-decent one is a combination of selecting unusual typography, the bare minimum graphic elements (the desaturated iStockphoto sunflower from my LJ design, and a muddied Squidfingers texture for the page background), and a couple tekkiwiki things I could pull off (grouping links in lists in the center column, and putting the title under the first full post).

Right now I'd like to have something with grass, like on my Media Manager play blog, in a banner across the entire width of the top. But I don't want it stuck in a box; some full blades of grass growing up out of nothing would be ideal. I probably also want a similar glyph to put next to post titles like all the newish TypePad styles have.

Ugh, I hate designing a page. :/

[info]electricdog was looking for blogs to read, so here's a list of my current subscriptions, exported from my newsreader. (I'm using GreatNews lately; while it has a few things I like better than FeedDemon, it's not perfect. It's great for my productivity because I do work instead of reading news.)
