Three things I miss using Safari 3 instead of Firefox 3

  1. The Awesomebar.
  2. Firebug.
  3. Greasemonkey (and my Noloudtwitter script).

A thing I don’t miss

  1. Crashing.

I miss mouse gestures the most (I suppose I should look into some generic OS X gesture programs). I agree with you on the last item though. Hell, even good ol' trusty Opera crashes more than Safari now.

I swear the only gesture I ever use in Firefox is Back (The button roll version, right-click hold left-click).

I've gotten used to my "mouse gesture" for that in Safari being "Right-click, move a little to the lower right, click".

Which really fucks me up when I accidentally right-click on text..

I haven’t watched myself browse, but given the major relearning for Safari I had to do was trading ⌘⌥ left and right for ⌘⇧ square bracket, I browse with the keyboard as much as possible.

I call them “hand gestures.” I think they’ll really catch on!

In Safari 3.1 there is Firebug-like functionality:

  1. Right-click on the page you would want to do firebug with.

  2. Select Inspect Element.

  3. Play around with element Inspector window for a bit to see how nicely it displays the page structure.

  4. Click on the bottom left of the inspector window, on where it says Console.

  5. Click in what looks like an empty status bar on the bottom right.

  6. Type '2+3' and press enter.

Also, fetch the latest nightly webkit build from http://webkit.org/, and get Drosera from the dmg. Drosera is a Javascript step-and-run debugger.

Oh, nice! That’s the part of Firebug I was missing.

FF3 crashes for you? I actually don't have this problem at all, but then again, I'm not running it in OSX most of the time--we're a WinXP shop here, with about 2/3rds of our ASP suite not actually WORKING on OSX. At all. c.c

FF3+IETAB == LURV

The beta does sometimes, yeah. Really I should expect it, as I did turn off extension compatibility checking, which is totally my fault.
